Californian Bungalow Extension

Location:
Northcote

Architect:
Robert Nichol & Sons

This modern extension to a 1930’s California bungalow. Designed by Robert Nichol & Sons, an existing extension was removed allowing the new addition to flow through at the same level as the existing house. Exposed rafters and timber lining boards help to make the new addition feel large and give extra height to the ceiling. Large sliding doors open onto a spacious deck allowing the inside to flow outside. The existing house was restored saving all the traditional features while adding new built-in storage throughout. New bathrooms, kitchen and laundry completed the renovation

β€œNick undertook an extensive renovation for us & was thoroughly professional throughout the process.  He is an excellent tradesperson & his work is exemplary. He kept the building site & the yard clean & tidy at the end of every day & kept us fully in the loop as the project progressed, which meant there were no unwelcome surprises along the way.  He is a genius at solving unexpected problems, is extremely pleasant & very easy to work with, & met his part of the contract consistently.  He was able to accommodate last-minute changes without apparent fluster.  He has also been generous in continuing to provide us assistance with trade contacts for additional jobs we have undertaken.

Nick has such a down to earth, no fuss way about him, he was an absolute pleasure to work with.  He is an insightful, well-rounded human being whom we highly recommend.”
