Fitzroy Residence

Location:
Fitzroy

Architect:
Robert Nichol & Sons

Designed by Robert Nichol & Sons this was a three-storey extension to the rear of a double-fronted Victorian freestanding house. The project also included a full renovation of the remaining front rooms and hallway including new plaster ceilings with large period plaster cornice, matching of existing skirting and architraves and building a new timber-framed subfloor using stumps, bearers and joists.

This was a challenging project not only due to the size of the extension but also its location. The new extension was built to the boundary on two sides with access for machinery and materials only available from the rear. This meant a significant amount of planning was required to ensure that materials could be delivered and handled easily and that all subcontractors could be accommodated on-site.

Project Details

“I have known Nick for almost 10 years and he has consistently displayed the utmost integrity towards his work & has been a loyal & honest friend. Knowing him as we do, we had no hesitation in employing Nick and his team to undertake our renovation.

Given that our renovation was not a straightforward one, clear communication with our builders was imperative. Nick was extremely proficient in communicating throughout the course of our renovation, from quoting through to hand over. Any variations that resulted in time delays &/or costs were explained immediately, with clarity.

The quality of work was exceptional, & the project adhered to timelines & budgets. We would unreservedly recommend Base Construct & Nick to any prospective client in future.”
